A bad-ass new 6.6 mile trail high in the mountains near Boulder County is really gonna happen! Construction will begin this year, and hopefully you’ll be riding high above Eldora Ski Resort by 2022! The new Toll Trail will be an important connection between West Magnolia and Jenny Creek and is one of the last puzzle pieces of the Indian Peaks Traverse, a 66 mile multi-use trail from Boulder to Winter Park.

Between a Colorado the Beautiful grant that Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) just scored for $300k and a matching grant from the estate of Mike O’Brien, a member of Boulder Off-Road Alliance and a frequent trail building volunteer, the costs for this trail have been completely covered and BMA is ready to step up to help build it! BMA has been advocating for this trail opportunity since 2005 when Tolland Ranch was identified for a conservation easement. In 2015, Boulder County, the Forest Legacy Program and Great Outdoors Colorado secured a conservation easement with a recreation easement for the trail. This is the first recreation easement for BCPOS and it’s very exciting to have a green light to build a trail across private property!

To say we’re stoked is like saying that Led Zeppelin was decent band. It’s the understatement of the year! We’re over the moon in love with the Toll Trail and what it’s gonna do for biking in the high country of Boulder and Gilpin and even a bit of Grand County! Like we’re not gonna sleep because we don’t want to miss Santa stoked!
