After 17 weeks of preparation, 24 members of Brute Squad traveled on Labor Day weekend to Spearfish, South Dakota to finish up the 2021 season by participating in the 20th running of the Dakota Five-O race. The 50-mile course winds on tight singletrack through the beautiful Black Hills region, featuring 6,000 feet of climbing from start to finish. Congrats to all for a great effort on race day, and thanks to all of the Brutes for doing a great job of representing BMA and Brute Squad throughout the training season! Special kudos to all of our athletes who did their first MTB endurance race ever in Spearfish, and to Pete Gruenberger for making the podium with a 5th place finish in the 60+ age group!
We already have our spots reserved for 18 Hours of Fruita in 2022, and are looking forward to season 9! If you are interested in getting on the mailing list for Brute Squad registration next year, please contact Coach Scott at brutes@bouldermountainbike.org.
