After decades of being closed to bikes, the Cobalt Trail at Boulder Valley Ranch is finally open to riders! This exciting milestone was achieved on November 22, 2024, as part of a larger trail improvement project that also revamped the neighboring Eagle Trail. The rerouted Cobalt now provides a smooth and flowy experience, creating a 3-mile loop that’s perfect for riders of all ages and skill levels.

BMA played a key role in bringing the new Cobalt to life. A significant portion of the trail was built by BMA’s own Mike Rutter, whose  work has transformed Cobalt into a beginner-friendly gem that blends fun with accessibility.

The Cobalt-Eagle loop offers:

  • Beginner-friendly riding: The flowy design of Cobalt, paired with Eagle’s rolling descent, makes this loop approachable yet fun.
  • A beginner-friendly option: The short, counterclockwise loop is ideal for kids or anyone looking for a quick ride from the Boulder Valley Ranch trailhead.
  • Options for adventure: Make it part of a longer ride and explore even more of Boulder Valley Ranch.

This project marks a major improvement for Boulder Valley Ranch, making the area more enjoyable for the cycling community. Whether you’re looking for a quick ride or a fun addition to a longer adventure, the newly opened Cobalt Trail is sure to become a favorite destination.
