This summer, BMA’s own Mike Rutter is working with City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks to build a new 1.5-mile singletrack connection that will replace the southern sections of the Mesa Reservoir and Hidden Valley trails at Boulder Valley Ranch. The existing Degge, Hidden Valley, and Mesa Reservoir trails aren’t currently open to bikes, but once the reroutes are complete they will be! That’s a big step forward for mountain bikers and adaptive riders.
The project goal is to streamline a dense network of low-quality, eroded trails into one well-designed route that flows with the landscape, improves access, and protects surrounding wetlands and grasslands. It’s a smart, rider-friendly upgrade that benefits everyone on the trail.
Construction is starting the week of June 9 and we’re hoping to knock-out the rough cut of this trail in 3 weeks. The full trail is slated to be completed in 2026. We’ll have volunteer opportunities for hand shaping, watch out calendar and emails for details.
