As two organizations dedicated to enhancing mountain biking opportunities in Boulder County, Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA) and Friends of Lefthand Trail Alliance (FLTA) recognize the importance of working together in the ongoing management study surrounding the future of Lefthand OHV.

While our organizations have different areas of focus, we share a common goal: to ensure that mountain bikers and the broader community benefit from a well-designed and long-lasting progressive trail system in the Lefthand area that continues to challenge and excite riders.

Boulder Mountainbike Alliance’s Perspective: BMA advocates for mountain bike experiences throughout the Greater Boulder area. With more than 30 years of history, 1,500 members and supporters, and strong relationships with the US Forest Service, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and other regional groups, BMA is uniquely positioned to represent the mountain biking community’s interests. BMA understands the importance of a designated space for advanced riders, and Lefthand OHV offers ideal terrain for these activities. Our vision is for Lefthand to continue serving as a premier destination, providing challenging and rewarding experiences for advanced mountain bikers long into the future.

Friends of Lefthand Trail Alliance Perspective: FLTA was founded by a group of riders with expanded knowledge beyond the cycling industry, driven by the sole focus of representing the Lefthand mountain bike community and preserving access to the progressive trail network at LHOHV. This focus allows FLTA to engage with local experts and the community to actively understand and advocate for the area. The mission of FLTA is to provide a community platform, education and stewardship, and represent these values through advocacy and access preservation. FLTA dedicates countless hours every week to address current issues, educate new users and plan for the future.

Shared Commitment: Together, BMA and FLTA plan to engage the broader mountain bike community to collaborate and cooperate throughout this management study. By uniting our efforts, we believe we can achieve the best possible outcome—one that balances the needs of the riding community with the interests of other stakeholders, while ensuring that Lefthand remains the progressive riding area it is. We envision a future where Lefthand continues to serve as a valued recreational asset, providing challenging and rewarding experiences for riders, while respecting the landscape and the community’s needs.
