On Trails Together in 2021
We’ve almost made it through 2020 together and the trails and our mountain bikes felt like the one consistent thing that was there for us through all of the hard times. Despite all of the complications, our volunteers pulled together and still accomplished some pretty amazing things! We don’t know exactly what 2021 holds for us but with the increased wear and tear on the trails, whatever rehabbing Heil Valley Ranch holds in store for us, and new opportunities as they arise, we need you to be there for the trails like they were there for us. Please consider giving so we can go bigger in 2021 and if you can’t give, consider how to get involved with our volunteer efforts!
We won’t dwell on the hardships, let’s focus on the positive!
We figured out how to get trail crews out in a safe way and still logged 660 hours of trail work both taking care of trail damage as well as building new trail! We opened a new trail segment in West Magnolia and installed signs so you can actually find the trails. We teamed up with COMBA to start building downhill trails at Maryland Mountain in Black Hawk and we built a sweet new section of bike optimized trail out on Community Ditch at Marshall Mesa. We also figured out how to offer our Skills Clinics and Group Rides in a limited and safe fashion and started offering private skills clinics so riders could still get out and learn in a super safe, 1-1 setting.
While doing all that, we learned a lot about inclusivity and kicked off efforts to offer more diverse riding and building options to make sure more people of diverse backgrounds can get involved with BMA, trails and the sport of mountain biking.
So please, be there for the trails like they were there for us, give and volunteer to make 2021 our best year yet.
