BMA partnered with City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks (OSMP) to improve Springbrook loop in South Boulder. BMA hosted 6 volunteer events this summer with 46 volunteers and 168 hours!
The Short: Improve drainage on Springbrook to reduce erosion caused by water, allow the trail to be open more in wet conditions and add some bike-optimized features.
The Long: BMA and OSMP staff and youth corps put in many hours this year to improve Springbrook. Poor water drainage created several issues on the trail: muddy sections that took longer than other trail areas to dry, sections of trail that were eroding off the hillside as well as exposed rocks and roots. We corrected these issues by adding drains and rebuilding damaged sections. Springbrook also got some bike optimized features including updating flat turns with small berms and adding some side-hit rock features.
This favorite South Boulder trail got even better this year, check it out and let us know what you think!
