Since BMA Trails Program Director Mike Rutter already had the excavator out for the Greenbelt Plateau project, it made sense to keep the momentum rolling and give some love to a nearby trail at Marshall Mesa.
Rutter turned his attention to Coal Seam, a trail that sees plenty of traffic and even more wear. Instead of just patching problem spots, he made subtle alignment tweaks to better follow the natural contours, improve drainage, and help the trail hold up longer. He also opened up sightlines through overgrown vegetation and added a few “easter egg” side features for riders who like a little spice.
These improvements will help Coal Seam stay open more often in wet weather, reduce surprise encounters at blind corners, and add some extra fun to the ride.
